Scenic Eclipse set the benchmark in expedition cruising when she launched in 2019. Now, her sister ship, Scenic Eclipse II, will elevate ultra-luxury to new heights once again. Having successfully completed sea trials we are now in the final stages, with the finishing touches currently being made for her maiden voyage in the Mediterranean on April 13, 2023. Read on to learn about the exciting details awaiting you on board this next-generation, state-of-the-art yacht.
A commitment to continuous innovation
Scenic Eclipse II represents an enhanced vision of our pioneering approach to ultra-luxury cruising. Scenic Group is the only ocean cruising company to go beyond designing its ships to managing the build through our subsidiary MKM Yachts, at our shipyard in Rijeka, Croatia. That means we have complete control over the design, build and operation and can swiftly transform ideas into reality.
Drawing from feedback from Scenic Eclipse guests and crew, our team was able to integrate detailed enhancements and new features. James Griffiths (Vice President of Marine Operations), Jason Flesher (Expedition Operations Director) and Tom Götter (Director of Food and Beverage) were deeply involved in the design of the ship experience to implement the learnings from operating Scenic Eclipse into making Scenic Eclipse II the most advanced ultra-luxury ship in the world.

New on board spaces
On Deck 10 guests will find the new Sky Deck & Bar, which offers indoor and outdoor seating that’s perfect for everything from morning coffee to evening cocktails. It’s set next to the outdoor Vitality Pool; 8.9m long and 3.5m across at its widest point, the water temperature is adjusted to match the destination and glass surrounds protect it from the wind. It even has jets so guests can ‘swim’ laps.
The cabanas on Sky Deck will be set up for all weather, with roller blinds, heaters and doonas for polar regions or mosquito nets for Kimberley cruises. You can have a picnic or even sleep under the stars. This is the place to be for lazy days at sea or for the perfect view as you’re pulling into port.

A world of wellness
The industry-leading wellness facilities on board Scenic Eclipse have been taken to a new level in our second Discovery Yacht. That means an expansive 5,920ft2 Senses Spa with enhanced saunas, colour and cold therapy, vitality spa and relaxation lounges. The spa also features an expanded steam room that includes aromatherapy, an ice fountain and experiential showers, plus a new KLAFS custom salt therapy lounge. Guests can relax on the heated, infrared chairs – designed to relieve back pain and encourage muscle relaxation – while looking out at the soothing ocean view. To improve the ship experience in every detail, the guest laundry is also now located next to the spa, so you can indulge in the spa facilities while waiting for the washing to be completed.

Out of this world godmother
An exceptional ship deserves an exceptional godmother. In December, we announced that NASA Scientist Dr. Kathy Sullivan will take on the role of Godmother of Scenic Eclipse II. A geologist and oceanographer, Dr. Sullivan has been to space three times and was the first American woman to complete a spacewalk. She has also travelled to the deepest depths of the ocean, exploring the Challenger Deep ocean trench. Dr. Sullivan embodies the spirit of our Discovery Yachts – an adventurer who likes to push boundaries, go in search of new discoveries and is a true pioneer in her field. “It’s a high honour to be a ship’s Godmother. I’m especially delighted to be Godmother to a vessel as well-designed for exploration and discovery as Scenic Eclipse II.”, said Dr. Sullivan upon accepting the role.
